Sponsor school for a child
Why it matters
Many families can not afford school for their children. When the children are home, it limits the parents from working or attaining our activity groups. Therefore, we have established a school for families who cannot afford it.
By empowering parents through our programs, they will in time be able to afford school themselves.
Your contribution can make this happen. 200 Norwegian kroner per month is enough to cover everything needed to educate a child. From school uniform and shoes, books and writing equipment, backpack, and contribute for the running costs of the school.

History
A couple of days after our organization was registered, we realized that many of our members had their children at home. There was a need to solve this situation in the community. There was no means to establish a school, but the local members started it anyway. This was one month before official school start of the year. The first three weeks went to find a location. the last 9 days, many of our volunteers and members came together and put down a lot of hard work to build the school. Building walls, digging sewage trenches and so on. And so, a school for families who can not aford schooling was established. It has truly been amazing to see a community come together and solve the matter with their own hands.
We started up with 163 students from nursery level to P5, and a staff of 12 people. There is a long waiting list of students who wants to be enrolled, and we very much like to expand with more students when we get more resources.
Location
Our school is located in Nsambya Kirombe, a beautiful ghetto area in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. This is where the core of our community members are based.
“Kirombe” means “where things are made from”, and in this case, it is bricks made from clay that are made in the area
Teaching
Our skilled teachers are community members of the organisation, that were without jobs. Throug this initiative they have the opportunity to teach and practice their skills.
We follow the normal curriculum of Uganda, which is built on the British system, and have practical classes in addition to this. In time, we are planning to seek approval for ammendment of the curriculum, so that the children can learn more about their own history and local traditions and heritage.
